Here are a few craft ideas using jelly beans for Easter, Fourth of July, Christmas or any time of the year. All you need are jelly beans, a few craft supplies and some creativity to produce some fun projects!
Jelly Bean Bracelets
Use jelly beans as beads to make kid-friendly bracelets. To make a jelly bean bracelet, thread a needle with elastic sewing thread and push the needle through the middle of each jelly bean. The number of jelly beans needed per bracelet depends on the size of the wearer’s wrist. Once it is the right size, tie the ends together in a knot and the bracelet is ready to wear. Children can choose their own favorite colors or make a pattern – and a have a snack, too!
Jelly Bean Rainbows
Choose a variety of colored jelly beans to create a rainbow. Using glue to affix the jelly beans, arrange them in a rainbow shape on a piece of heavy construction paper. Use pastel jelly beans for a softer colored rainbow or bright jelly beans for a traditional rainbow. Cut out a pot from black construction paper and add yellow jelly beans for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Jelly Bean Carrots
Use orange colored jelly beans to make a cute carrot centerpiece. Fill plastic pastry bags about ¾ full with orange jelly beans and tie the bag closed with bright green ribbon. These make adorable carrots for your Easter table.
Jelly Bean American Flag
Use red, white & blue jelly beans to design an American flag. Choose a piece of heavy cardboard as your base. Glue a row of red jelly beans along the bottom edge of the cardboard to make a red stripe. Then glue a row of white jelly beans to make the next stripe. Continue alternating jelly beans in red and white stripes until you have six stripes. Next fill in the upper left hand corner with blue and white jelly beans to symbolize the stars on the American flag. On the right hand side, continue alternating red and white stripes. This makes a fun, patriotic Fourth of July project.
Jelly Bean Christmas Trees
Make festive little Christmas trees using jelly beans. Put a few yellow jelly beans in a plastic pastry bag (this will be the star at the top of the tree). Then pour in about 1/3 cup of green jelly beans for the tree. These can be mixed with a few yellow, white, red or other colors to look like lights and ornaments. To create a trunk for your jelly bean Christmas tree, tape the bag shut and then wrap brown pipe cleaner around the base. Cut off any extra plastic.
Use these creative ideas to have fun with jelly beans all year long!
