I hate colds with a passion. After trying several OTC cold remedies over the years, I have finally found one which usually hastens recovery and reduces the severity of my symptoms. I now take Cold-EEze Cold Remedy every time I catch a cold. My average cold usually lasted two weeks, if I was lucky. I have been unlucky several times and had colds that lasted four and even six weeks. My latest cold began on Tuesday. I immediately took a Cold-EEze zinc lozenge, as the instructions are to begin at the first sign of symptoms. The instructions are to take a lozenge every 2 to 4 hours; maximum of 6 daily. These instructions are from the Cold-EEze.com website, which you may visit for more detailed information. The active ingredient is “zinc gluconate glycine.”
My Cold Was Essentially Gone in 7 Days
I took the medicine for about 6 days but averaged only about 2 or 3 per day and I still feel It really shortened my cold. I almost always have a sore throat as a cold symptom, but this time I had a dry cough for about 4 days but no sore throat. I had nasal stuffiness the 2nd, 3rd and 4th days. Those days, I was also very sensitive to cold, which makes me sneeze. On the 5th, 6th and 7th days all my symptoms gradually improved until now my cold is gone except for a trace of lingering hoarseness. If I had taken the full recommended dose of Cold-Eeze, I might have improved much faster. I noticed no side effects from the medication.
Quoting the company website, among the tempting flavors are “Cherry, Honey Lemon, Strawberries & Cream, Tropical Orange, Lemon Lime, Mint Frost or Sugar Free Pomegranate?”
Medical trials have given conflicting results, but the double-blind test conducted with 100 Cleveland Clinic employees impressed me. Quoting the Cold-EEze article relating the studies, “Patients who received ColdāEEZE lozenges saw symptoms disappear, on average, in 4.4 days while patients given placebos were sick, on average, for 7.6 days.”
My Worst Cold Ever, I Contracted by Falling Asleep in the Bathtub
The worst cold I remember having, I contracted in a unique way. I had a hard day at the plant and decided to take a long, hot, soaking bath before bedtime. I read the newspaper in the tub for a while, until I became so sleepy that I dropped it in the water. My reading over, due to the soggy newspaper, I decided to soak until the water cooled. Being very drowsy, I dozed off. When I awakened, the water was very cold and I was actually shivering. Worst of all, I had developed a sore throat. I have read that getting chilled will not give you a cold, but it has happened to me so many times that I am convinced otherwise. When I began my bath, I had absolutely no cold symptoms, but when I woke up chilled, with a sore throat and nasal drip, I considered that a cold. The fact that I had that cold six weeks was even more convincing.
I am usually very pleased with the results from taking Cold-EEze.
