December is a busy month for city dwellers in the 60601 area code. There is a lot to see, do and know! Here are the happenings, info, and updates:
Come mix and mingle with neighbors in your building at the Chandler Holiday Party on Thursday, December 9. The festivities kick off at 6pm and last until 10pm in the Chandler Community Room. Enjoy conversation, laughter, and fun along with food and refreshments at our annual holiday party. For more info, call the front desk at 312-729-0902 and speak to Deone, the head doorman.
Harbor Point 2010 Town Hall Meeting
Homeowners and residents–spend an informative evening with the Board of Directors. Get your questions answered and share information on subjects of interest to all on Wednesday, December 15, from 6pm until 8pm in the North Function Room. Submit your questions by Friday, December 10. The forms for questions and the suggestion box to drop questions are located in the mail rooms.
In October, the park district erected a 10-foot fence in the Du Sable parking lot next to the high rises. If you were like me, you wondered if residents would retain access to the lakefront. It seemed that our most convenient and expeditious route was being cut off. An opening was left for pedestrian travel (no gate). However, the slope leading to the opening still needs to be paved for wheelchair access. We are still waiting for approval on this.
Additionally, Lakeshore East has basically cleaned their 4 lots and locked the fence prohibiting access. Sections of the fencing around the lots need repairing. For more information, direct your questions to Richard Ward, President of the New Eastside Association at 312-473-7931. For a look at plans, construction and broken fences, go here.
We are in police District 1, headed by Commissioner Kennedy, who has been responsible for 1100 citations since the beginning of summer. This is all in an effort to enforce laws here on the New Eastside section of town, which has an enormous amount of traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian, considering our downtown location.
