Slushy facials- check. High school jealousy and drama- check. Last year’s biggest TV phenomenon- check. Welcoming the hottest music sensation in the world to the new season of Glee-…..what?!
That’s right, as if taking the TV world by storm last year wasn’t enough, the hit show ‘Glee’ has more or less guaranteed there will be no sophomore slump in its second season. The buzz started over the summer when it was announced that singing prodigy Charice would join the cast of Glee for the 2010-’11 season, and after appearing in the season premiere earlier in the Fall- success!
Charice, known as Sunshine on the show, showed off her talent to primetime America midway through the season’s opening episode by singing ‘Telephone’ with cast regular Lea Michele, known as Rachel. Simply said, it was magnificent! But wait, there was more. In Sunshine’s audition for the Glee Club she sang the Broadway hit ‘Listen’, and boy did she sing. Charice showed America what they have been missing for the past year. The segment was explosive, eye-popping, simply said- unbelievable. There is no doubt that Sunshine will add huge numbers to the Tuesday Fox TV lineup coming up in the second half of the season.
Rejoining ‘Glee’ front girl Rachel for more high school ups and downs are last year’s regulars, Quinn, Kurt, and Finn. Glee Club director Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) and Cheerios cheer coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) will undoubtedly continue their rivalry in season two as well.
In ‘Glee’s’ first season Olivia Newton-John, Kristen Chenoweth, and Neil Patrick Harris were just a few of the guest stars to appear in cameo roles. In season two, the likes of Britney Spears, John Stamos, and Carol Burnett have already made star visits the set. Rising star Chord Overstreet will also be joining Charice as a newbie regular on the show that earned an amazing 19 Emmy nominations last season.
Reports are circulating that Charice will appear in at least five shows in the second half of the season, where she will play a predominant role in the storyline. Expect her to belt out some spectacular ballads, as well as pairing with some of the regulars in the memorable duets.
So whether it’s Broadway show tunes, 80′s classics, or today’s top hits that you like, ‘Glee’ is bound to deliver pure entertainment for the second half of this television season with its all-star cast and exploding superstar, Charice.
