Everyone gets into arguments. But imagine your worst arguments being played out in a public forum. Many celebrities from Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorrie, Kelsey Grammer and Camille Grammer, Ciara and Rihanna have taken their personal battles to the public airwaves.
Round One: Charlie Sheen vs. Chuck Lorre
The battle between actor Charlie Sheen and “Two and a Half Men” show creator Chuck Lorre may have been going on for some time behind the scenes; however, their private tiff heated up after Chuck Lorre placed a message at the end of the February 14, 2011 show (as seen on ChuckLorre.com):
Chuck Lorre Posted a Vanity Card at the end of “Two and a Half Men” stating: “I exercise regularly. I eat moderate amounts of healthy food. I make sure to get plenty of rest. I see my doctor once a year and my dentist twice a year. I floss every night. I’ve had chest x-rays, cardio stress tests, EKG’s and colonoscopies. I see a psychologist and have a variety of hobbies to reduce stress. I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I don’t do drugs. I don’t have crazy, reckless sex with strangers. If Charlie Sheen outlives me, I’m gonna be really pissed.”
In response to this message and his ongoing battle with Chuck Lorre, Charlie Sheen called into the “Alex Jones Show,” a radio program. According to People.com, Charlie Sheen said:
Charlie Sheen’s Comment on the “Alex Jones Show”: “I embarrassed him in front of his children and the world by healing at a pace that this un-evolved mind cannot process,” says Sheen. “I’ve spent, I think, close to the last decade, I don’t know, effortlessly and magically converted your tin cans into pure gold. And the gratitude I get is this charlatan chose not to do his job, which is to write.”
Round Two: Grammer vs. Grammer
This year started with Kelsey and Camille Grammer embroiled in a heated public battle about the dissolution of their marriage. Fortunately, they were able to settle matters privately and quickly (although not quietly). They ended their marriage-thus allowing Kelsey to marry Kayte Walsh. According to The New York Daily News, Kelsey and the new Mrs. Grammer married on February 25, 2011 in New York, days after his divorce was finalized.
Round Three: Ciara vs. Rihanna
On February 25,2011, during an appearance on “E! Fashion Police” with host Joan Rivers, R&B singer Ciara said of Rihanna: “I ran into her recently at a party, and she wasn’t the nicest.” It did not help that Joan Rivers threw in the “B” word to describe Rihanna. What followed was a nasty exchange on Twitter between Rihanna and Ciara that had everyone talking.
Surprisingly, within a few tweets, the issue was quickly squashed by Rihanna.
Rihanna tweeted: “Ciara baby, I love u girl! U hurt my feelings real bad on TV! I’m heartbroken! That’s y I retaliated this way! So sorry! #letsmakeup”
Ciara replied: ” Rhi u know its always been love since day 1! Doing shows/everything. you threw me off in that party! Apology accepted. Let’s chat in person”
Whether this was all a publicity stunt, or if the apologies were sincere or not…who knows? While no mature person should take their arguments to the media or twitter in the first place, it is commendable that these young stars were able to express their feelings in an open honest way, then quickly resolve their beef. It seems these ladies can teach the others a thing or two.
Fans of “Two and A Half Men” can only hope that Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre can resolve their issues and go on with the show. Maybe they can meet with each other and talk face to face because media involvement is only making matters worse. A quick resolution is necessary not only for the sake of a hit show, but mainly for all the cast and crew on that show who are being adversely affected by their immature behavior.
