by tree pony

Want a great idea for a fabulous Valentine’s Day celebration? Here’s one–spend the time at an art gallery. And, I’ve got a few excellent ones in mind for a unique twist on how to spend your special day.

Valentine’s Day Love Show

Come and view local artist’s visual interpretations of love on canvass. February 12, 2011 from 5pm until 9:30pm the Harper Gallery, located in the South Loop downtown on 1915 S. Michigan, will showcase creative works of art that you can enjoy. The theme is love, of course. The contemporary gallery features works from Chicago artists. A nice way to spend Valentine’s Day. Open Tuesday through Saturday, 1pm until 7pm. For more on this event, call 312-617-3456.

Prairie Avenue Gallery

Create your own evening celebration, just the way you like it to show the love of your life just how special they are. At the Historic Keith Mansion, the home of Prairie Avenue Gallery, you can experience your own festive event with a small, catered dinner.

The Victorian style Keith Mansion, designed by J.R. Roberts is an undiscovered gem in our city; one of the finest grand houses that has been carefully restored to look like the days of old when it was part of Chicago’s original Gold Coast.

Only a mile from the Mag Mile and a half a mile from Soldier Field and Lake Michigan, you are still downtown in the heart of things. To plan your evening of romance in celebration of the lover’s holiday, or for further info, call Marcie Baim at 312-907-7909, or e-mail: [email protected] See website here.

Donald Young Gallery

How about art you can see, wear, decorate with, and dazzle? This studio is different and it’s for you. It is one of the Midwest’s largest retailer of contemporary crafts and jewelers. Over 400 craftsmen with over 50 jewelry designs from all over the U.S., Illinois, and the Chicagoland area.

Yes, you can stroll, look at the art, then buy a unique piece of art for the one you love! They even have a 90 day Lay-Away Program plus a 30 Day Return Policy for non-jewelry purchases, so if that special love doesn’t like the art, you can bring it back. To see wall art, click here.
