Search and Destroy is played almost the same way in almost every Call of Duty games, but in Blacks Ops, there are some changes that must be made to your tactics in order to win. Here is a list of important things to remember when playing Search and Destroy.
Be Silent. Whenever possible, use a silencer on your sub machine gun or assault rifle. This way the enemy team will never know where you are on the radar when you are firing your weapon. Also, like in the past Call of Dutys, Ninja is an important part of Search and Destroy since it masks the sound of your footsteps. This way, you can sneak up on enemies without them hearing you on their gaming headsets.
Make use of your equipment. There are three main pieces of equipment that you can use in Search and Destroy that are really effective. Claymores can earn you easy kills and block off enemy routes, Motion Sensors can be placed in any parts of the map an will alert you of enemy presence, and lastly , Camera Spikes can be placed to monitor important part of the map. If you utilize the equipment, you can lock down certain parts of the map with help from your team.
Use Communication. Just like in any first person shooter, communicate with your teammates whenever possible. When you see an enemy, call out his location and where he may be heading to. Great teams communicate well.
Make a route. After some time playing Search and Destroy, you begin to accustom to where most of the enemies will go, where snipers will post up, and where people will set up claymores; then you will be able to design routes to take, taking into account your experiences from past games.
Use hacker. Since there are so many different types of equipment that the enemy can use, without hacker you might not know that you are running into a claymore, or past someone’s camera spike. I started playing Search and Destroy on Black Ops and did fairly average, but as soon as I tried putting on Hacker, the whole map lit up with all types of equipment. Now I could maneuver past Jammers and Motion Sensors that used to put me into horrible positions.
On offense, have a plan. Many people think offense is a lot harder than defense, but with a decent team, it can be turned around very quickly. Coordinate with at least 3 people and have the other 2 flank around the sides. With the team of 4 people, push to a designated objective and plant the bomb. Now your team can defend the bomb site while the 2 flankers can pick people off from the sides coming to disarm the bomb.
Use these tips and you will soon see a difference in your S and D game.
