New businesses in small communities are not a given, especially during the economic hard times that have befallen our country. However, when a good business does open up that offers reliable services at good prices, word of mouth is always the best way to advertise. In Hobbs, New Mexico, (also nicknamed Hobbs America), these businesses have left a personal impression on me that need to be showcased.
Located at 413 East Navajo Drive in Hobbs, New Mexico, this small little coffee shop has taken my breath away. Opening in the later part of 2010, I have found their prices; convenient location and smaller lines have definitely made a big difference in the coffee world of this city. “Coffee Barn” is open Monday thru Friday from 5 am to 6 pm, and 8 am to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. This business also offers a ‘Happy Hour’ from 2 pm to 6 pm on soft drinks, in which sodas are only $1.00. Their employees are courteous, knowledgeable and make a mean white mocha latte! The “Coffee Barn” isn’t just famous for their beverages, though, as they also offer food. ‘Piggly Wiggley’s’, muffins, chocolate, and other things to eat while drinking your latte or soda make this business a great new business that should have many more years of customers to come!
Perhaps you would like to treat yourself or give someone in your life a special treat. “Elite Nails” is the place to go! “Elite nails” is located at 939 East Bender Blvd in Hobbs, New Mexico. Opening also in the later part of 2010, this eloquent nail salon has it all! From manicures to pedicures, waxing services and even margarita’s, this business has scored big points with me. The nail technicians are fast, friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure your experience, whether you are a man or a woman, in their salon has you coming back! Their hours of operation are Monday thru Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm, and walk-ins are always welcome. Their work is fantastic!
While “Lowe’s” is a chain in North America, it has just barely made its way into Hobbs, New Mexico. This business was definitely a welcoming relief for those ‘do-it-yourselfer’s’ as it provides competitive prices, fantastic customer service and also a convenient location. I can’t tell you how many times I have walked in with an absolute face of confusion and was met promptly by someone who wanted to help! Located at 1510 West Joe Harvey Blvd in Hobbs, New Mexico, this business opened its doors for eager customers in February of 2010. Their hours of operation are Monday thru Saturday from 6 am to 9 pm and Sunday from 8 am to 8 pm. Another really cool feature “Lowe’s” offers is the ‘shop, click, and pick up in 20 minutes’ feature from the “Lowe’s” website! “Lowe’s” has definitely become a one stop shop for me whenever I need anything to ‘do it myself!’
Two businesses in this city that seem to have flown under the radar for a time are two of my all time favorites! Bob’s Tattoo & Piercing Studio and Animal and House sitters are two businesses that deserve to get showcased.
Bob’s Tattoo & Piercing Studio
Unless you know someone who has been there, or find it driving by 909 North Grimes in Hobbs, New Mexico, you will miss this gem of a business! Bob and his talented tattooing crew, Marcus and Mario, make absolutely fantastic skin art. These guys not only tattoo what is considered flash, but also customized work if you take it into them before asking them to ‘ink’ it. Their hours of business are 12 pm to 10 pm Monday thru Saturday. It’s always best to make an appointment with them; however, you can walk in and ask if they have someone available for some art. As if that wasn’t awesome enough, Bob has a very talented ‘piercer’, Amy, who was trained at “The Fakir Body Piercing Intensives” school in California. This business not only prides itself on the knowledge and talent of their artists, but also making sure everything is highly sanitized. You can find them on the internet at http://www.bobstattoostudio.com or call them at 575-393-0088. These guys are the number one source in “Hobbs and the surrounding area for top quality tattoos and piercings.”
Animal and House Sitters
Getting to go out of your home town is always an adventure, but it can turn into a headache when you are trying to find someone to watch your home and pets. The owner and only employee of “Animal and House Sitters” takes that headache away for you! Licensed and bonded, Hollie takes pride in her work, and taking care of things while you’re away. She is a huge animal lover, and makes sure things are taken care of while you’re away. Using her service, my animal companions have always had the best of care, and everything is perfect when I return home. Hollie definitely has the medicine for my headaches when I have to go out of town, and she can be reached at 575-393-3513. If you’re tired of having to beg for care for your home and/or animal companions before you go out of town, give her a call. You won’t regret it!
