Since my skin is lacking the golden glow it usually has during the summer, I need to use products that add a touch of shimmer and light to my face in the colder months. Two great products I have found that give me just enough warmth to my skin are Maybelline Dream Mousse Bronzer and Mark. Get Bright Highlighter. While these two products can brighten up your features, using too much on skin that’s gotten pale or pasty over winter can look very unnatural. Here are two easy ways you can use illuminating highlighter or bronzer on your skin this winter:
Illumination lotions and highlighting creams contain light reflecting ingredients to give you a glowing look any time of the year. Illuminating lotions also smooth out the skin, giving you a softer appearance. There are a couple of ways you can use illuminating products. If you have a highlighter, such as Mark. Get Bright, you can add it to certain areas of the face to attract light and brighten up your appearance. Ideal areas for the creams would be under the eyebrows, inside corner of the eyes, cheekbones and a small amount on the chin.
If you have a lotion, add a small amount to your moisturizer or foundation for an all-over glowing look. You’ll want to find a product that closely matches your natural skin tone to keep the look as fresh as possible.
For some, the thought of using bronzer is downright scary because if done incorrectly, you could end up looking like a relative of Snooki. In the winter, using bronzer sparingly can give you a warmer glow. There are a variety of bronzing products available in the stores, but for makeup purposes I stick to products I can use with my other cosmetics, as opposed to all-over color (which wouldn’t match the rest of my skin tone anyway). One of my favorites is the Maybelline Dream Mousse Bronzer. The mousse texture makes it easy to rub into my skin, leaving behind a small amount of color before I add my foundation. I use the bronzer just as I would the illuminating highlighter, adding a small amount to my brow bones, cheek bones and chin. Rub the bronzer in thoroughly and then apply your foundation as usual. The subtle color is just enough to brighten up the skin without going overboard.
Using these two products is simple and both of them are very affordable. It’s important to remember to use just a small amount, since they should enhance the features with your other cosmetics, not stand out.
