Breach brings a customization system and destructible environments to Xbox Live Arcade. This first person shooter is not the first multiplayer only game on the platform, but it has the components to be one of the most strategic. With 5 classes and dozens of unlockable items getting started in Breach can be confusing. To help beginners here are some tips, hints and strategies for Breach.
Breach Tips – Upgrades
Each class in Breach has its own unique weapons to unlock, and getting all of them is going to take some time. Start off by playing each class once or twice to find your favorites, and then stick with that class until you have the experience saved up to buy some weapon attachments. Because each weapon has its own attachments to buy be sure to look through the weapons list and save your points for the weapons you will want to use the most. Since the perks and gadgets can be used by any class once unlocked it is better to buy the ones you will want to use across every class first. Then, later once you have leveled up further buy the ones you will want for just one class.
Breach Tips – Destruction
Most military style shooters don’t have the level of destruction available in Breach. As you start playing keep an eye out for the rocket launcher and ammo supply crates. There are a limited number of rockets so be sure to use them carefully. If there is an enemy hiding in a building instead of waiting for the perfect head shot use a grenade or breach charge to blow the whole wall out in front of them. Careful use of explosives can create shortcuts through buildings or make it harder for enemies to get you by blowing out bridges.
Breach Tips – Cover and Hiding
Because the environments in Breach can be destroyed you need to choose your cover carefully. Any wooden or thin metal wall can easily be shot through. Try to use the stone walls or boulders throughout the levels for the strongest cover. On most of the maps you can also get to hiding areas for sniping can then be made inaccessible to others through the use of explosives. Be careful when doing this though because it you get killed you also will not be able to get back to that spot. It is better to use a motion detector to cover your back so you know if someone is trying to flank you. After an explosion there is a large smoke cloud covers the area. Use this smoke as cover to get to a new, safer areas of the map.
