Best Tattoo Parlors in Salt Lake City

by tree pony

Where you get your tattoo is almost as important as what tattoo you get. If you’re looking to get some ink in the Salt Lake City area, here’s my top 3 picks for the best tattoo and piercing parlors in the capital city as well as what makes them so great.

1) Big Deluxe Tattoo- Big Deluxe Tattoo has been open since 1998 and has been getting rave reviews ever since. They specialize in custom tattoos and can ink just about anything you want..and make it look awesome. They also offer facial and body piercings by highly trained artists. The shop features approximately 15 tattoo artists, each with their own style but all are great. As an added bonus, they also offer permanent makeup, which is one of the newest trends right now. Big Deluxe Tattoo has 2 locations- one at 730 South State Street and one just down the street at 662 South State Street. To find out their hours call their studio at (801)355-1696.

2) Ancho Ink- Ancho Ink is one of the cleanest and most talented shops in the city. Operating since 2006, the Ancho Ink parlor offers a laid back atmosphere with several talented tattoo artists available to do premade or custom art. They also specialize in many different kinds of tattooing, including tribal, Asian, fine line, black and grey, realistic and life-like tattoos and many more. They have 6 different artists, each with their own portfolio and all are extremely talented in different areas of work. Jason, for instance, is great at Asian and realistic tattoos. You can also email or contact the artist you’re interested in working with ahead of time with sketches or ideas of what you want and see if they can do it or have done something similar in the past. Ancho Ink is open 7 days a week and is located at 1103 South State Street in downtown Salt Lake City.

3) Doc Holliday Tattoo and Piercing- Doc Holliday is known for having a clean shop and a clean reputation to match. In fact, Doc Holliday has been getting rave reviews from clients for years now and are even members of the Better Business Bureau and the city Chamber of Commerce. What’s even better is they offer some of the cheapest prices in the area. They only have two artists- Doc (the owner) and his partner Gregorio, both of whom are talented and extremely experienced (Doc has been tattooing since 1979 and has owned multiple tattoo shops!). You can also email Doc or Gregorio ahead of time and let them know your tattoo idea and see if they can do it. The parlor also offers piercing and tattoos to minors with the proper forms notarized and parents present. Doc Holliday Tattoo and Piercing is located at 4777 South State Street in downtown Salt Lake City. For hours, call the parlor at (801)268-6789.
