As 2010 comes to a close, we wrap up a great year of video games. It’s time to look back on what the year has given us in terms of video games for consoles as well as the PC. There have been many great games brought to us this year but they are not all created equally.
Here are my top picks for best PC video games of 2010:
Mass Effect 2 – One of the best games ever to come from Bioware, Mass Effect 2 is a top pick for best PC games of 2010. Published by Electronic Arts, this sequel to Mass Effect is promising and addicting from the first scene. The open-endedness of the game is one of the main features for RPG-lovers and the heroes in the game really drive the story-line. The trademarked cinematic, interactive abilities of the conversations make it a fast-paced, intriguing, interactive game that will give you hours upon hours of entertainment and enjoyment.
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm – Quite possibly one of the most anticipated expansions in PC gaming history, Blizzard brought us Cataclysm, the third expansion for its infamous World of Warcraft MMORPG series. With 2 new races, 2 new battlegrounds, many new instances for raiding, exciting new zones and a total revamp of old Azeroth that even those without the expansion can experience, this is the biggest and baddest expansion that Blizzard has ever made.
Dragon Age: Origins Awakening – If you’re looking for an exciting RPG and you love the old school RPG gameplay, then Dragon Age: Origins Awakening is worth adding to your game collection. The first expansion to 2009’s Dragon Age: Origins, this is a PC game that will draw you in and keep your interest as you complete your goal to rebuild the Grey Warden order.
Call of Duty: Black Ops – Rarely has there been a shooter as highly anticipated as Call of Duty: Black Ops. While it was one of the fastest selling PC games of the year which sold tons of copies, it was also the most pirated game of 2010, a distinction that can only come with a really, freaking awesome video game. Call of Duty is a series that has earned billions of dollars and established an entire experience. Black Ops combines all that you love about Call of Duty as well as other FPS and war-inspired games and brings it all to one game on multiple platforms you can enjoy (although the PC version is still top dawg).
StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty – Starcraft fans have been long awaiting the anticipated sequel and StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty brings us the continuing saga of the Protoss, Zerg and Terran once more in the epic reigning king of RTS PC games. Upgraded units and the ability to select more units are a bonus to SC2. No LAN capability is a bummer but this game still ranks up there in the top PC games of 2010.
Fallout: New Vegas – We cannot have a “best of 2010” in a video category and not include Fallout: New Vegas, the extra chapter to Fallout 3. In this we leave Washington DC and head to Vegas for some of the most exciting storyline in PC making this year. “Feel the heat” and check out Fallout: New Vegas yourself today. The sheer amount of content alone in this game makes it a top choice for PC gamer fans.
What do you think? Did your favorite make the list? Do you have a favorite PC game that isn’t on the list? Drop by with a comment and let us know which PC game released in 2010 is your favorite and why.
