Looking for an Italian restaurant for dinner tonight? Portland has several non-chain Italian places that serve authentic foods with a great atmosphere.
Genoa – Genoa just opens its doors with a newly created menu. Indulge in a meal of Terrina di fegato con tarftufi, a wonderful dish of chicken and duck livers garnished with radicchio marmalade, persimmons and mostarda.
Main course is Merluzzo e baccala, line caught Oregon black cod, or Duo d’Oca – which is a great serving of goose with your choice of preparation. Manzo alla “Wellington”, filet of beef. These original Italian meals are cooked with love and fresh ingredients found here in the Pacific Northwest. Located at 2831 SE Belmont St. Portland, hours of operation are 5:30 – 9:30 Tuesday – Sunday. Reservations are suggested.
Downtown Portland Has the Great:
Pazzo Ristorante – located at 627 SW Washington St. Pazzo’s presents guests with a menu filled with innovative cuisine. Using ingredients from the Pacific Northwest the menu will be ever changing with the seasons. Part of the Kempton Hotels fine dining the Pazzo Ristorante will knock your socks off with foods such as Mista Zuppa, Spiedini Antipasti, Tortelli, Ravioli, spaghetti and much more. Menu items are reasonably priced and my own personal experience of eating at Pazzo I can say it is some of the best Italian foods in the city.
Ernesto’s – located at 8544 SW Apple Way, Portland. Ernesto’s Italian restaurant serves some of the finest pasta, seafood, chicken and even pizza in the entire city. Dress is casual so come as you are. Reservations are needed for parties of 8 or more.
Start the meal with Bruschetta, Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail and move on to the main course of Prime Rib, Lasagna, Veal Scalloppine Alla Marsala, and Seafood Manicotti. For desert enjoy Tirimisu, Spumoni, or Cheesecake with your choice of toppings. Easily priced from $2.75 to family meals at $22.95 per person. Ernesto’s is one of Portland’s favorite spots to find Italian dining.
Saving the Best for Last Portland offers:
iovio – Open nightly from 5 to 9 pm and located at 912 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, iovio is a great place to find authentic Italian foods. The menu at iovio is packed with great foods such as antipasti, wild-caught calamari, beet salad, ragout of lamb, fresine, grilled steak, slow cooked pork and top off your meal with a warm cookie and milk. At just five years old iovio has proved itself to be one of Portland’s finest Italian menus in town. Holiday celebrations include Santa and Carolers, cooking for kids feats, and in 2011 Portland’s Original Iron Chef to take place in Portland’s Kitchen Stadium at the Portland Art Museum. See Adam Sappington defend his title against Chris Thompson of iovio.
