“True wisdom is knowing that you know nothing.”
I remember staring up at that quote posted on the wall of my third grade classroom thinking to myself, Then why am I here learning if I already have knowledge? I asked this of my teacher, and she replied, “Because you are a gift to me.” Maybe that’s just the only thing she could think to say to that question, but now when I think of the best National Teacher’s day gifts, I realize that the best gift has already been given. Our children, the opportunity to educate and nurture the youth of the world is the best gift anyone in the world could ever give.
However, recognizing a national holiday with a gift that’s given every single weekday is a bit silly, so I simply reword the question before answering, “What are the best physical gifts for National Teachers day?”
The cheap and thoughtful:
Many people give flowers, but live plants are the gift that keeps on giving. Naturally someone who enjoys nurturing would enjoy a plant.
So stereotypically sweet, the apple is a dentist’s recommended perfect gift to make a teacher feel like a teacher.
Hand-drawn cards and illustrations:
This actually would go best along with a gift, but getting your children involved with your National Teacher’s day gift is a great idea. have them draw cards and pictures, unless your school going child is older, then a signature would do.
A notebook and/or day planner:
Who doesn’t have use for that? You could even take it a step further and give a fancy lesson planner.
A really awesome pen:
I know, you are thinking what? A pen? Really? However, have you looked at the price of some of the pens they have nowadays? Have you used one? They are amazing. Public funding doesn’t buy pens like that, and when you write a lot, a pen counts.
While guessing foot size can be a challenge, guessing why teacher’s would appreciate gel inserts is not.
A spa coupon:
Male of Female who does not like to be pampered? In addition, who doesn’t deserve it more than teachers do?
Though these are some good suggestions on great gift ideas for National Teacher’s day, I’d say the best gifts are personalized. Get to know your teachers and pick something that is uniquely them. You give two gifts at once by doing this, one, the actual gift given, and two the knowledge that their students cared enough to really know them and put thought into their gift.
