The Gulf Coast of Florida is a tropical and tranquil escape like no other. With its superabundance of natural beauty, tropical beaches and dramatic water views, it is truly one of the most attractive destinations in Florida. The area’s best beaches are clustered in South Fort Myers, Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Filled with lush tropical landscapes suggestive of wandered and lazy days when you took a break to watch the sunset or sunrise.
If you are searching for a tranquil escape where you can drift away in perfect relaxation, here’s my take on The Best Area Beaches. Each one beautiful and unique and the perfect tropical escape.
The Best Area Beaches
1. Lovers Key State Park & Resort (Fort Myers Beach)
Voted One of the Top 10 Beaches by Travel Channel is made up of 4 islands, their beaches and backwaters. Lovers Key State Park has secluded, unspoiled beaches with calm warm waters. Adjacent to Lovers Key State Park, on a small semi-private island is Lovers Key Resort with spectacular views of Estero Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.
2. Bowman’s Beach (Sanibel Island)
Sanibel Island’s Bowman’s Beach, just off San-Cap Road, is a quiet and secluded beach with pristine white sands. While it does not have a hotel on site, it is a popular beach on the northern tip of the island with outdoor showers, a children play areas and senior fitness trails throughout.
3. Blind Pass and Turner Beach (Sanibel Island)
Blind Pass Beach is a beautiful beach just before the bridge to Captiva. Great for sunset viewing.
The terrain at Turner Beach is the main attraction. A rocky beach with strong currents, Turner Beach is popular with shellers and fishermen alike.
4. Casa Ybel / Algiers Beach (Sanibel Island)
Sanibel Island is well known for its shelling and Casa Ybel is on a secluded, shell-strewn beach. A perfect location for weddings.
5. Captiva Beach
Located at the end of Captiva Drive just past the entrance to South Seas Island Resort, a great place to watch the sun set.
Whether you are looking for a beach that is secluded and unspoiled with calm turquoise waters (Lovers Key State Park Resort); a shell-strewn beach that’s perfect for weddings (Casa Ybel); in search of the perfect spot to view the spectacular Gulf sunsets (Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa, Blind Pass and Turner Beaches); or just in need of peace and quiet (Bowman’s Beach), SW Florida has a peaceful spot for you that will keep you coming back for more. Great travels.
