Whoever says the Academy Awards are not about the fashion is clearly mistaken. Don’t get me wrong, there are many great talented actors and actresses at this star-studded event, but the fashion makes this event all the more glamorous. I watched the “Oscars Red Carpet Live” and was both enthralled and disappointed. Here are my picks for best and worst dressed at the 83rd annual Academy Awards.
She was bold, beautiful, and boisterous with her new body. She was an eye catcher in Versace. She wore a tangerine orange halter gown with just the right amount of cleavage. She complemented her dress with an up-do and a little bling.
She never disappoints on the red carpet. She looked like a classic beauty in a black form fitting one shoulder own. Black and gray feathers covered her other shoulder and draped down to the breast line. She accented her dress with a small pair of diamond earrings. Her hair was the only disappointment for me. It was very reminiscent of “The Bride of Frankenstein.”
She arrived in Calvin Klein looking stunning as usual. Her gown was a silver metallic sleeveless straight gown. She wore a subtle pair of gold and jeweled earrings that matched the accessory on her waistline. Her hair was down and pin straight, which added to her award winning look.
She arrived in a Dior Couture. The gown was a white strapless kimono meets floral explosion. To accent this fashion flub, she wore a studded choker and red open toe shoes. Her hair was in an up-do with her bangs dangling in front of her eye. I hate to do this to Nicole because she is always such a fashion icon, but she definitely disappointed this time.
This gown was my least favorite of the evening. It reminded me of Easter egg meets armor. The lavender short sleeved dress was accented with what looked like mini Easter eggs or doilies. There was even an egg shaped cut out in the front of the gown. Who knows, maybe she was paying homage to her favorite holiday?
Mark Ruffalo and wife Sunrise Coigney
These two get worst dressed couple. He looked like his hair was combed with an egg beater and he tied his own bowtie. She looked like part mini Oscar statue half covered by a black drape. Her one shouldered mistake of a dress was accented by dangle bracelets. I just didn’t get this look at all.
