Given the chance, most kids would opt for drinking soda rather than juice. The trick is to hook children on the good stuff from the very start. We did that with my grandson and 9 out of 10 times, he will choose juice over a soft drink. My granddaughter, on the other hand, was a tough one to switch over. She was raised on sugary sodas.
Both of my grandchildren know that Nana always has juice on hand and, luckily, they will now choose it almost exclusively over anything else. Their favorite of favorites is apple juice. That’s a good thing, too, because it is also my husband’s favorite so we always have plenty of it to drink.
One of the brands that they all love comes from Berkley & Jensen. It is simply called Apple because it is 100% apple juice from concentrate.
My husband buys the super-sized 96-fl.oz. jugs from B. J.’s He gets two in pack and it really is a good bargain at around $6.
There are 12, 8-fl. oz. servings in each jug. A serving equals 100 calories.
Berkley & Jensen Apple juice contains no fat or cholesterol. It does; however, have 28 grams of sugar and carbohydrate and 35 milligrams of sodium. While it contains no fiber or protein, it offers 130% of the daily-recommended amount of vitamin C.
Ingredients include apple juice concentrate, ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and water. There are no added additives, preservatives or chemicals.
Berkley & Jensen stands behind their products. They promise that their Apple juice is comparable to, or better than, the leading brand of its type.
They guarantee its freshness and quality. Customers who are not satisfied with one of their products can take the product back to the location of purchase for a full refund. If, for some reason, the store refuses the return, one need contact the company at 1-800-934-1204 and a refund will be issued.
I’m not a huge apple juice fan, but I like this one. I also like that the jug is made from 100% recyclable products and, in some states, it can be returned for a refund of $.05.
While the juice can be kept in the pantry until it is opened, once the seal is broken, it must be refrigerated. It will; however, keep for quite a while as long as the cap is properly adhered to the jug.
Here is my summary review:
Taste: 5 stars. Berkley & Jensen Apple juice is delicious without being overly sweet or uncharacteristically sour. It is balanced and refreshing.
Appearance: 5 stars: This beautiful amber color of this juice ensures that it looks as good as it tastes. There is no sediment or pulp to destroy the richness of the drink.
Reputation: 5 stars. Berkley & Jensen have a good reputation because they produce a quality product and then stand behind it 100%.
Nutrition: 4 stars. Berkley & Jensen Apple juice is a bit high in sugar and carbs, which could be a problem for people watching their intake of those items. However, it contains no fat or cholesterol and a minimal amount of salt. Those are pluses in its favor. The real benefit to this juice is that it delivers 130% of the daily-recommended amount of vitamin C. That is a real plus in its favor.
Green rating: 5 stars. The bottle is both reusable and recyclable.
Packaging: 5 stars. I am a big fan of the easy grip bottle used for Berkley & Jensen Apple juice. I have small hands so big bottles can be a problem for me without the easy grip shape. Additionally, the crystal clear jug allows the customer to see how rich and perfectly translucent the juice really is. There is no pulp, sediment or any other kind of foreign body to destroy the rich, beautiful color of this juice. The label on front is beautifully done in white, blue, bold and red. The Berkley & Jensen logo is displayed at the top of the jug and a glass of juice is embedded at the bottom in a batch of juicy red apples. The label is both attract and distinct enough that consumers will recognize it easily on the store shelf.
Ease of storage: 5 stars. Before its is opened, Berkley & Jensen Apple juice can be stored in a kitchen pantry or closet. Unfortunately, he jug is too large to be stored in most kitchen cabinets. Do not store the juice near an extremely hot or cold source (below freezing). Once the bottle is opened, it must be refrigerated.
Availability: 3 stars. Berkley & Jensen Apple juice is not widely available in every grocery store. Therefore it could be a little harder to find than some other juices. It is usually carried in large retail stores like B. J.’s. However, it may be also found in some major discount department stores that carry bulk food products.
Price: 5 stars. Berkley & Jensen Apple juice is available in 2 96-fl. oz jugs at B. J.’s for around $6. That is about average or slightly less than other comparable brands. The price may; however, vary from location to location as well as from store to store.
Product purchase probability: 5 stars. My whole family loves and drinks this juice. It I don’t have it on hand, they won’t be happy. Therefore, you can count that it will be found in my refrigerator routinely.
Final rating: 4.7 stars. This is a great apple juice brand.
