Blazing through Twitter, the social media site is filled with posts from the protesters who have taken over Radio Libya. Varied reports say 10-27 people have died so far today in the fighting between the Libyan government and those wanting liberation from Muammar Gaddafi are carrying them through the streets.
Tweets are calling for international leaders to help rise against Gaddafi calling him a “criminal” and a “Jew.” Although it’s clear Gaddafi is a criminal, he’s supposedly Islamic and rumors are saying his mother was a convert from Judaism. Probably Jewish people everywhere are groaning and disowning any relationship between them and this horrific dictator.
Pro-Gaddafi supporters are clashing with those fighting for freedom from the oppressive manipulation of the regime which has dominated Libya for over 40 years. These uprising are a result of the recent ousting of Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak as President of the country.
With the Egyptians as an example, it is clear more young people will be leading the revolt against regimes who disrespect and murder their own people for self gain. The use of social networks like Twitter should be a clue to dictators all over the world letting them know their days are numbered.
Radio Libya is just one of the ways citizens can communicate with their fellow countrymen spreading the word to unite and topple these types of governments. In order to stop protesters, all communication, education and world association would have to be cutoff and in today’s society, this is completely impossible.
Will Gadaffi be the next ousted leader? Will he step down, run and hide or wait for his execution?
It’s hard to say what a maniac will do given the circumstances, but one thing is certain, sensibility doesn’t actual factor in to a dictator’s logic. American’s seem to lack understanding when it comes to these wild men in power which is you can’t have a fair fight with an underhanded scumball.
Seeing as the world is dealing with current rebellions happening all over the middle east, all we can do is support whatever side happens to be morally right. (To you dictators out there morally right means not murdering innocent people and not trying to promote yourself, stealing money from your people and allowing them to live in slums while you live high on the hog.)
The turmoil in the middle east is a sign of the times and hopefully when all is said and done, the world will be a better place. One can only hope…
