Throughout scripture God clearly communicates to us His desire to have a relationship with us. Unfortunately there are times in our life when it feels like everything is against us. There are times we feel embarrassed, dirty, and separated from God. The following inspirational Bible verses will spur you on to a greater awareness of yourself as well as God’s sincere desire to have a relationship with each one of us.
Hope for Overcoming Temptations
1 Corinthians 10:13 (New International Version, ©2010)
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Countless times in my personal life I have looked to this inspirational Bible verse for motivation, encouragement, and hope. This verse points out that in every situation that we face it is something that another person has already endured or encountered. Additionally it emphasizes that when we face something that tempts us we will always have the opportunity for escape. While that escape may not always be the easiest choice or decision, it is comforting to know that it is always going to be there. How often is it that we feel limited, confined, and just out of options? Recalling this inspirational Bible verse will undoubtedly help remind you that you’re not alone, and that there is a way out. You can overcome anything!
Inspiration for Maintaining a Humble Attitude
Philippians 2:1-11 (New International Version, ©2010)
When I think of Bible verses that are inspirational, I am often drawn to the attitude or mindset of Christ. In Philippians 2:1-11, we are reminded of the type of attitude that Jesus Christ had. There are times in life when we forget that we are sinners. We forget that we are human. We ignore the fact that we are no better than any other person, and that we do not deserve the opportunity Christ’s death gives us. In those moments we treat others with disdain, we treat them like they are less than we are, or we treat others as if they are somehow unworthy of God’s grace. This Bible verse inspires me to be a servant, and not a judge. It reminds me to check my ego, and understand that I am not any better than anyone else. It is a Bible verse that is inspirational because it reminds me that Jesus, of all people, had a right to act differently than He did – a right that I do not have. By remembering this portion of Philippians you will be able to check your attitude, and be a better servant because of it.
An Unashamed Lifestyle
2 Timothy 2:15 (New International Version, ©2010)
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
There are times in life when I am embarrassed by the actions of people around me who call themselves a Christian. A famous DC Talk song featured a lesson long lost on some Christians that hypocrites are a huge disservice to the kingdom – people who acknowledge Jesus with their mouths, but not with their actions. I find 2nd Timothy 2:15 to be an inspirational Bible verse because it simply points my head and heart back to who my focus should be on – God. If I work to present myself as one approved, as one who correctly handles the truth, then people around me are going to know what I stand for. Consequently they will see a vibrant distinction between others who claim Christ, but deny Him in their lifestyle. This Bible verse inspires me to strive to be the best Christian I can, and lead with a lifestyle that expresses to others what I feel in my heart.
The Suffering Sin Bearer
Isaiah 53 (New International Version, ©2010)
Isaiah 53 is a chapter filled with inspirational Bible verses that unabashedly portrays the coming Messiah as one who will suffer much for sinners. This particular chapter depicts one who is undeserving of the punishment they receive, and one who does so without complaint or grumbling. At times in my life when I feel weighed down, overwhelmed, or exhausted by the trials of life, I can flip over to Isaiah and read this chapter. It does several things for me spiritually. One, it reminds me what Jesus went through during His time on earth – despised, rejected, and ignored. Too often we get disheartened when we endure similar hardships in life. At times like that it is important to remember what was tolerated for our salvation. By reflecting on Christ’s life, that of a suffering savior, we are given a new perspective on life, on what’s important, as well as ways in which He suffered on our behalf.
We Cannot Be Separated from God’s Love
Romans 8:37-39 (New International Version, ©2010)
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This inspirational Bible verse provides me reassurance that when everything is going against me, I can count on finding God and His love in Jesus Christ. This verse encourages me by pointing out all the different things that God’s love is over. There is no living thing, there is nothing created, there is no period of time, nothing heavenly, nothing spiritually that has in it, the capacity to separate me from God. There are times in life when this seems impossible. Times that we experience great tragedy, such as the loss of a spouse or child, as well as times when we succumb to sin. In times like those, there is still a place to experience God’s love. During the hardest of times, the most trying times, the most confusing times, we can know that a loving God is looking for a relationship with us.
God’s Grand Design
From a handful of inspirational Bible verses, one should be able to regroup, rethink, as well as recharge their batteries. What people experience in life is difficult and can be overwhelming. Fortunately we have the opportunity to read Bible verses that can help us along life’s journey. God designed His Word in such a way that we can find comfort and knowledge by reading it, praying about it, and looking to Him.
