Bath & Body Works is one of my favorite brands of lotions and soaps, and I have been using their Japanese Cherry Blossom scented shower gels and warming oils for the past two years. When I visited my daughter in Louisiana I had a chance to stock up on more Bath & Body Works products.
Since I was dealing with dry winter skin, I was really attracted to their Bath & Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter. The cap states that this is a “New Improved Formula”, but the scent still smells the same to me, I think only the ingredients have improved.
It comes in a seven ounce tub, and it is decorated beautifully! The label is a dark burgundy color, picturing Japanese cherry blossoms. It is described as an “Intense Moisture Body Butter”, and claims to provide “Over 24 hours of nourishing moisture”.
I love this body butter! I would gladly spend the full retail price of $15.00, but with their sales and coupons I was able to pick it up for around $5.00, which was a steal for a product of quality. When I think of body butter, I imagine a very thick, butter like consistency, and that is pretty much how Bath & Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter feels.
The tub is four inches wide, and with the screw off top removed it measures 1 1/2 deep. This nice wide mouth makes it easy for me to scoop out a large amount of product. It is much thicker than a moisture lotion or even cream, and I like to slather it on my body after a long, relaxing bath. It is a little more greasy than my favorite hand creams, but regardless of that it still absorbs well.
I have been dealing with dry itchy skin on my legs, and one hand lotion that I used for moisture actually irritated them and made them feel worse. Because the Bath & Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter is also scented in a light perfume odor, I was afraid I might have the same reaction, but I am pleased to say this product did not irritate my skin at all. It really did leave my skin feeling quenched, and for the first time in weeks I didn’t wake up in the middle of the night with itchy skin. I do agree with the company that this body butter really does moisturize for 24 hours.
The Bath & Body Works website boasts that this scent has won the company awards. It describes the Japanese Cherry Blossom scent as “A seductive and mysterious floral scent, inspired by the exotic gardens of Japan”. The scent notes (also listed at the company website) are: Asian Pear, Fuji Apple and Ume Plum, Japanese Cherry Blossom, Butterfly Lily, Kyoto Rose, Mimosa Petals and Hedione, Vanilla Rice, Imperial Amber, Silk Musk, Cinnamon Incense, Himalayan Cedarwood and Creamy Sandalwood. It has a rich, sultry and musky scent that I find too heavy for the daytime but perfect for evening wear.
When I apply this body butter to my skin in the evening, I can smell the gentle scent all night long. Sometimes scents bother me so much that I have to get up and wash them off, but this is such a mild odor that I don’t have this problem. The scent is not at all overpowering. It contains vitamins and antioxidants that are good for the skin, so I have to heartily give this product two thumbs up. It’s a real winner, and would make a perfect Christmas gift.
