Everyone likes a little variety, especially when it comes to airsofting. Playing ‘team deathmatch’ over and over again may entertain you, but eventually you’ll get bored. So try being like my team, play a bunch of different types of games. This article will show you three more matches you could play. For the original three, check out my article here. I’ve also written articles on choosing your first airsoft gun, choosing the right airsoft ammunition, and tips for choosing airsoft eye protection. Click those links to view the articles.
‘Tag’. Players have 1 life each. At the beginning of the match, everyone is on their own team and has to spread out over the playing field. When the game begins, players attempt to hunt down other players and shoot them. Once a player is shot, they go down, count for ten seconds, then get back up and join the team of the person who shot them. Once everyone is on one person’s team, the game is over and the team’s “captain” (or longest present member) wins the game. This can get quite confusing, so be sure to communicate who is on who’s team. Also, some players will just stand together and safety kill each other at the start, so force everyone to spread out.
‘Place the Bomb’. Two teams, one team defends a base and the other assaults it. The catch is that the assaulting team has a bomb they must plant inside the enemy’s base. Assaulting team players have 1 live and once shot have to retreat to a respawn area. Defending team has 2 or 3 lives each. To plant the ‘bomb’ players from the assaulting team must reach a specified area and place the ‘bomb’ (a briefcase or cubic objection works best) on the spot. They must then count to 5 to ‘plant’ it. It then takes 25 more seconds for the ‘bomb’ to go off. Defending team players can neutralize the ‘bomb’ by making physical contact with it for 5 seconds. The game ends when the ‘bomb’ goes off or when the defending team is neutralized. Time the game and switch teams in the next round to see who wins with the shortest time, or add a 15 minute time limit for tension.
‘Transport’. 2 teams, the convoy and the OpFor. The convoy has an object they must get from point A to point B (designate these points however you like). The OpFor’s goal is to eliminate the convoy. Convoy players can pick up the object but not drop it unless they are shot. Once a convoy player with the object is shot they must drop the object (if they have it) and count to ten before getting back up. After a convoy player has been shot 2 or 3 times (your call) they are out of the game. OpFor players have 1 hit, and can either go to a respawn when shot OR count to ten and then get back up. The game ends when the convoy gets the object to the destination or when the convoy is eliminated. Give the convoy less lives if they have a shorter route to the destination.
I hope you enjoy these games, and feel free to tweak and modify them however you want to fit your group. Respawn rules and lives can always be changed. Good luck, and have fun airsofting!
