Memphis Pizza Cafe has a few different locations but this one is located at 2087 Madison Avenue in Memphis, TN. Their telephone number is 901-726-5343. It is located in close proximity to Malco Studio on the Square, Bayou Bar & Grill, and Boscos Squared. It is located between South Florence and South Cooper Streets. Parking is located behind the restaurant.
When you walk into Memphis Pizza Cafe (on Madison) you definitely notice that you are not in a chain restaurant such as Olive Garden or Red Lobster. You feel like you are sitting in a small factory from the 1950s or 1960s. This location does not have a ton of seating. We had to wait for about 15 minutes for a table. It was well worth the wait. I have absolutely no complaints about the service we received.
This visit occurred on 4 March 2011. My wife and I ate there with another couple. My wife and I had the Large BBQ Chicken pizza. It was absolutely ridiculous and I mean that in a good way. Anytime you combine the two best foods ever (BBQ and Pizza), the result should be good but Memphis Pizza Cafe does it extremely good. I also had a cup of ranch to dip my pizza in. This basically made it heaven on earth. My wife also ordered 1/2 of a Greek Salad. The dressing was a little strong for both of us but it was not bad.
The couple we were with ordered the Large Cajun Chicken Supreme. I was not to crazy about this pie but the other members of my party enjoyed it. For me it was lacking a true authentic pizza flavor. I mean the only time pizza should be messed with is when you add BBQ.
The total price of our meal for four was $49.00. The BBQ Chicken pizza was $14.35 and the Cajun Chicken Supreme was $14.70. The 1/2 of Greek Salad was $3.60. Three members of our party ordered fountain drinks and they were $1.79 a piece. The total of all the food was $38.02 and then tax was $3.52 for a subtotal of $41.54. I tipped $7.46 for a total of $49.00.
You have got to try Memphis Pizza Cafe. I love Pizza Hut and Domino’s but if you want authentic thin crust pizza then this is the place to go. They have outdoor seating and a bar. The setting is great and the pizza is even better. Check out their website here for more details (http://www.memphispizzacafe.com/).
(Please note that they have a few locations in the Memphis area. I am sure each place is great but this review is for the location on Madison only.)
