When I spotted Lean Cuisine Chicken with Basil Cream Sauce Dinner, in the frozen meals section of my local grocery store, I was actually looking for their herb chicken dinner. Since the store I was shopping at was out of that favorite dinner of mine, I decided to purchase the chicken basil dinner, try it out and write a product review about it. Here is what I discovered!
Lean Cuisine Chicken with Basil Cream Sauce Dinner is affordable. It costs a bit over two dollars and maybe a bit more, in some grocery stores. This meal looked really interesting to me. It has two medium thin slices of chicken breast with rib meat patties, well seasoned, with basil cream sauce and a side dish of angel hair pasta with red and yellow peppers. This dish also has lots of cheeses in it like Parmesan and Romano, just to name some. All of that sounded very good to me. I could not wait to taste it!
This dinner has so many good things going for it, nutrition and diet wise, in my opinion. It is very low cal, low in saturated fat, fairly low in sodium and very protein rich. This meal is perfect for microwave cooking and that is how I chose to prepare it. I only had to vent the film cover, place in my microwave, cook on high for five minutes and thirty seconds and let stand for one minute before serving. This dinner smelled great and looked terrific!
When I tasted Lean Cuisine Chicken with Basil Cream Sauce Dinner, I liked it very much. The chicken is tender and seasoned well. To some, the strong seasoning may be a bit overpowering. The chicken has a smoky flavor to it. The cream basil sauce is the best part of this meal and gives the chicken patties excellent flavor. The angel hair pasta side dish is tasty and the pasta is yummy. The peppers are good but, I could have done without them, actually. I would have liked to have seen squash or carrots in the pasta. Still, overall, this meal is a treat. It is very filling and hearty. For a low cal dinner, that is great! I rate it four stars out of five stars. It is creative and a dieter’s friend, for sure!
This dinner has only 250 calories. Wow! There is so much food in this meal, that is hard to believe. Only 50 of those calories are from fat. Fabulous. It has 6 grams of total fat, 2 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 1.5 grams of polyunsaturated fat, 2 grams of monounsaturated fat, 30 mg’s of cholesterol, 420 mg’s of sodium, 310 mg’s of potassium, 2 grams of dietary fiber, 4 grams of sugars and 19 grams of protein. This dinner has a good amount of vitamin C in it. It is preservative free and equals 5 weight watchers points, according to the Nestle company. This product does contain wheat and milk ingredients.
