As a rapidly developing community, Okotoks has a great demand for recreational programs, particularly swimming. There is a variety of swimming programs available for residents of all ages and skill levels at the Okotoks Aquatic Center.
Swim for Life
All preschool and youth swim programs offered through the town’s recreation department promote the Swim to Life Program. Costs per session vary.
Lil Tot: Kids aged 6 months to 3 years, along with their caregiver, progress through three levels of instruction, learning basic swim safety and water fun.
Preschool: There are five levels to the Preschool swim program, suitable for kids aged three to five. The swimmers are taught proper swim techniques, with lessons interspersed with fun games and activities.
Swimmer: Kids ranging in age from six to 12 years old are given an opportunity to master their skills. After all Swimmer skills are mastered, they work on the Canadian Swim Patrol program.
Aqua Lifesaving: Youths can also register in a Stroke Improvement class to improve front, back, and breast stroke techniques, or Swim Patrol Lessons, which include aquatic first aid and rescue.
Diving: Both intermediate and advanced diving lessons are available for youths.
Adult Beginner Swim Lessons: This option allows adults with no prior swim experience a chance to learn the sport, get exercise, and meet new people.
Adult Stroke Improvement: This is a class used by adults who wish to further develop their front, back, and breast strokes.
National Lifeguard Service: Participants aged 16 and older participate in the National Lifeguard Service Award course to become a certified lifeguard.
Masters Swim Club
This club is open for participants from the beginner fitness level with some swim experience to those with competitive swimming desires.
Cost for the Okotoks Masters Swim Club range from $395 to over $600 per year, depending on time commitments.
Summer Swim Club
As a summer swim club offering competitive swim opportunities from May to August, the Okotoks Sting Rays is available for swimmers aged five to 18. Club registration fees include the costs for swim meets throughout the season.
The Okotoks Synchro Sea Queens is a synchronized swim club with program levels for young kids looking for a fun atmosphere, to intermediate swimmers wanting to develop their skills, to competitive environment as part of a synchronized swim team. Costs range from $110 to $165 per month for the season, depending on days committed per week.
