It can be difficult to break the cycle of child abuse depending upon how many adult family members are in the family due to several generations. You might run into a problem of where your sister thinks it is okay to abuse the child with a belt for not behaving properly in their eyes the way that one should. You might run into one of your other sisters that think that child abuse is wrong so therefore she clashes with the other sister in the family for disagreements about parenting. Here are five ways on how to break the cycle of child abuse.
Don’t Abuse Your Own Children
Show your children the difference between discipline and abuse. Some adult children think that abuse in the name of discipline is not abuse since they were brainwashed as a child. Don’t show anger in front of your children if you have extreme anger issues to the point of breaking things. Please remember that breaking things in front of children is an act of violence whether you realize it or not.
Speak Out About The Abuse You Experienced Growing Up
Don’t let silence be the factor that lets your family win about getting away with the abuse that you suffered at the hands of them. Speak out about the abuse that your parents did towards you no matter how much he or she threatens you. You break the silence the moment that you and someone else in your family speaks out about it and confronts them. You help to end the family cycle of abuse by speaking about it to everyone and young people.
Stay Brave Enough to Leave Abusers
Stay brave enough to leave abusers that you run into in your life. Set an example for the children. Teach the children that you will not tolerate abuse of any kind in the household whatsoever. Sons will learn not to abuse women. Women will learn not to tolerate abuse in their life. Your children will be very thankful later on in life that you were strong enough to leave any abusive situation immediately to help save their life. It takes a ton of courage to leave forever with the children.
Encourage Your Children To Speak Out About Abuse
Make sure that the children know that he or she can tell you anything. You want them to have enough courage to talk to about any abuse that goes on behind your back when you are not there. There has been several cases of abuse at the hands of stepparents saying that your mother or father approve of the treatment when he or she really doesn’t approve of it.
Teach Children to Identify Abuse By Parents Towards Other Children
Does your neighbor constantly call her children bad names like stupid ? Explain to the children that it is emotional abuse. Report the abuse immediately to child protective services when the abuse gets worse as time goes by. Explain to them that sexual abuse is wrong no matter what tells them differently. Explain to them that physical abuse is wrong no matter what anyone says to them. Explain to them that emotional abuse is wrong no matter what anyone says to them. Anyone that makes up excuses for abuse is trying to justify it as being right when it is really wrong.
