These 2011 NFL Divisional round predictions against the spread and totals feature my brief explanations of my safest pick, hardest pick, and my overall picks without detailed explanations. Why I like the road teams in this season’s divisional round.
Well, I’m coming off a wildcard weekend where I went 3-1 on the straight picks and 4-0 on the spread picks. Some good fortune, but it was a tremendous week of NFL football. With the way the divisional round has scheduled out, it should be another fantastic week of football.
The AFC Divisional round, also known as “Rivalry week,” features two of the AFC’s greatest feuds taking place in a do-or-die format. The Baltimore Ravens travel to Pittsburgh to challenge the Steelers for the second time in three seasons in a playoff format. The New York Jets and New England Patriots are also playing a rubber match that’ll dictate who will play in the AFC championship. The Jets look to redeem themselves from their 45-3 defeat in their last match-up a few weeks ago, and Rex Ryan is already talking trash to Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.
The NFC Divisional round, also known as “Revenge week,” features rematches of two tightly contested regular season affairs. The NFC playoffs start Saturday night when the Atlanta Falcons host the Green Bay Packers, a game that the Falcons won 20-17 in the waning seconds of the contest. That will be followed by the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears. The Seahawks upset the Bears 23-20 in Week 6 in Marshawn Lynch’s debut, and the Seahawks were able to exploit the Bears offensive line troubles.
Here is the simple version of my predictions without detailed summaries (Those are below). I’ve recently added a confidence rating featuring low, low-mid, mid, mid-high, and high confidences. That is concerning my straight picks and not necessarily my pick against the spread or totals.
Enjoy divisional weekend.
UNDER 36.5 Baltimore Ravens (+3) at Pittsburgh Steelers (Confidence = Low)
UNDER 45.5 Green Bay Packers (+2) at Atlanta Falcons (Confidence = Low)
UNDER 41 Seattle Seahawks (+10) at Chicago Bears (Confidence = Mid)
UNDER 45.5 New York Jets (+8.5) at New England Patriots (Confidence = Mid)
