The month of December is in full swing and there are only four weeks left for teams to make a final push for the NFL playoffs. Will your team come out on top or will they choke away their only chance. Take a look at these NFL predictions for Week 14 of the 2010 season.
Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans
Both the Colts and the Titans are in danger of missing out on the playoffs and need a win in a big way. The Titans offense is downright depressing and will need to find a way to put some points up on the board against a decent Colts defense. This will be the week Peyton Manning breaks out of his interception groove and shows why he is still one of the best quarterbacks in the game.
Prediction – Colts 28 Titans 17
Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers
The Falcons grip on the top spot in the NFC continued to tighten after the come from behind win against the Buccaneers. They will be facing a Panthers team that has one win this 2010 NFL season. The Falcons will not look past the Panthers and will be eager to wrap up home field advantage with a win this Sunday in Carolina.
Prediction -Falcons 31 Panther 10
Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers are coming off a hard fought win last week and will be ready to take on their divisional opponent, the Bengals, who have yet to find their groove this season. The Steelers will use their running game to blow holes in the porous Bengals defense that allows 124.9 yards per game on the ground. The game will be over before it reaches halftime.
Prediction – Steelers 24 Bengals 10
Oakland Raiders at Jacksonville Jaguars
Both the Raiders and the Jaguars are coming into this contest fresh off a win thanks to a dominant rushing attack. These two teams are ranked second and third in the NFL in running, and average a combined 300.5 yards per game on the ground. NFL fans should not expect a lot of pass attempts bu either team unless it is working off the play action.
Prediction -Jaguars 17 Raiders 14
Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions
The Packers will be looking to keep pace with the Falcons when they take on the Lions, who they previously beat by two points earlier in the season. Though the Lions have a decent pass rush, they are not the same offensive team without their starting quarterback. Expect the Packers to earn a win by relying upon the arm of Aaron Rodgers early in the game as they build a quick lead.
Prediction – Packers 31 Lions 24
New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings
The Giants who are going to be eager to ride the momentum of their convincing win over their divisional rival when they travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings and their star back Adrian Peterson. The Giants dominant ground game returned last week and will need to be at their peak when they take on a Vikings defense that allows only 92.0 yards per game on the ground. If the Vikings are smart, they will stick with Tavaris Jackson to get an idea of what they will need for the upcoming 2011 season.
Prediction -Giants 28 Vikings 24
Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills
This is probably one of the more interesting match-ups of the week that does not have any playoff implications. The Browns and Bills have continued to play hard each week and have not given up on the field even when things looked the darkest. The Browns will use their underrated defense to shut down the passing game of the Bills just enough to earn their sixth win of the 2010 NFL season.
Prediction – Browns 24 Bills 21
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Washington Redskins
The Buccaneers lost a heartbreaker last week to the Falcons, but will need to be able to move past when they take on an ailing Redskins team. The Buccaneers will utilize their rookie running back to help create the passing opportunities for second year quarterback Josh Freeman. The Redskins are going nowhere fast and would be best served if they used the remainder of the season to help sort out starters for next year.
Prediction -Buccaneers 21 Redskins 10
Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers
The Seahawks will be ready to continue their winning streak when they take on their division rival in a pivotal game for the NFL playoff picture. The 49ers hopes for a playoff berth are hanging on by a thread and can be extinguished if the Seahawks are able to use Marshawn Lynch effectively in the ground game. The 49ers will pull off the minor upset thanks to the performance of their defense that has been slowly improving all season.
Prediction -49ers 17 Seahawks 14
St. Louis Rams at New Orleans Saints
The Rams have a share of first place in the NFC West, but it may be short lived when they travel to New Orleans to take on a Saints team that has been scoring points with ease. The Rams will need to use their defense to slow down Drew Brees and company if they are going to have a chance to have a winning record by the end of Sunday.
Prediction -Saints 27 Rams 17
Kansas City Chiefs at San Diego Chargers
The Chiefs will have the chance to erase all hopes of a playoff for their division rival by earning a win over the Chargers on Sunday. Both teams have shown they are able to score points at will but sometimes find themselves in an offensive funk. Fans will be treated to an aerial show by both quarterbacks with Phillip Rivers gaining the upper hand in the playoff race with a much needed win.
Prediction -Chargers 24 Chiefs 21
Miami Dolphins at New York Jets
The Dolphins, who are still reeling from the loss at the hands of the Cleveland Browns, will need to find a way to regroup when they travel to New York to take on the Jets who were manhandled Monday night. Nothing went right for the Jets who will be looking for answers against a better than average Dolphins defense. The Jets will focus on getting the confidence back for Mark Sanchez when they make their playoff push at the end of the regular season.
Prediction -Dolphin 21 Jets 20
Denver Broncos at Arizona Cardinals
With the dismissal of head coach Josh McDaniels, the Broncos will be playing a different style when they travel out West to take on the offensively challenged Cardinals. Quarterback Kyle Orton should be able to find his way through a Cardinals defense that has been weak against the pass but has been able to force a turnover every so often. The Broncos will find themselves on the winning side thanks to the weight being lifted off.
Prediction -Broncos 21 Cardinals 10
New England Patriots at Chicago Bears
The Patriots, who are fresh off their statement win over the New York Jets will be ready to take on a Bears team that has a surprisingly balanced offense. Tom Brady will continue his push for another MVP award as he tries to keep the Patriots in the lead for the top spot in the AFC and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Prediction -Patriots 31 Bears 21
Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
The Eagles will be eager to continue their winning ways when they take a trip to Dallas and take on the resurgent Cowboys. Quarterback Michael Vick will have an easy time passing this week when he takes on a Cowboys defense that allows 254.1 passing yards per game and has been unable to keep sustained pressure on the quarterback. The Cowboys will give them a good fight but will not have enough for the win.
Prediction -Eagles 27 Cowboys 21
Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans
The Ravens will be smarting from the close loss to the Steelers, but will need to find a way to regroup when they take on the roller coaster ride that is called the Texans. The Texans will find a way to get out of their offensive funk and put up enough points to keep the Ravens from mounting a comeback on Monday Night football.
Prediction -Texans 27 Ravens 17
