There was some great news today for fans of Windows Phone 7 devices. Microsoft today announced that there will be a new program called the Must Have Games for Windows Phone 7, and the star of the show will be Angry Birds.
There were some rumors last week, that developer Rovio had buried the hatchet with Microsoft and that the smash hit game would be making its way to WP7. Well now those rumors can be put to bed because it has just been officially announced.
At an event called the Spring Games Showcase, Microsoft today announced that there will be some amazing games coming to Windows Phone 7. Besides Angry Birds there will also be other well known and well loved games such as Doodle Jump, Plants Vs Zombies, Hydro Thunder Go, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1, and GeoDefense.
These 6 games will just be the tip of the iceberg as Microsoft continues to promote WP7 and continue its all out assault on other Smartphone devices, and operating systems. These games will start to be released on April 6th, and better yet, they are all Xbox Live friendly and will include achievements, leader boards and much more.
This is good news from Microsoft, I am sure that it will help dispel some of the bad press it has recently received over the somewhat botched firmware update. While it was not as widespread as some would have you believe, in fact less than ten percent of users were affected, it certainly was not the type of publicity Microsoft can afford to have surrounding WP7.
Things are starting to look very promising for WP7 and Microsoft. The announcement that Nokia is on board, the new update coming our way soon, the first CDMA phone being announced for Sprint, and now the must have games for Windows initiative will surely have fans drooling at the mouth. 2011 is shaping up, and looks like it will be a great year for Microsoft, and WP7.
